What Leftwards hand Means
People reach for ๐ซฒ when they mean hand, handshake, hold, left, leftward and similar ideas. Searching Snagmoji for any of those words finds it.
Leftwards hand is one of the people & body emoji, alongside ๐ ๐ค ๐๏ธ โ ๐ and 5 more in the same family. It supports all five skin tone modifiers, so ๐ซฒ can be sent as ๐ซฒ๐ป ๐ซฒ๐ผ ๐ซฒ๐ฝ ๐ซฒ๐พ ๐ซฒ๐ฟ.
History & Platforms
Leftwards hand was added in 2021 as part of Emoji 14.0. It has artwork in Twemoji, Google's Noto, Microsoft's Fluent, OpenMoji. Apple, Samsung and WhatsApp draw it in their own styles, which is why the same emoji can look a little different from phone to phone.
Under the hood ๐ซฒ is the single code point U+1FAF2, and on GitHub, Slack and most chat apps you can type it as :leftwards_hand:.
